Revelation 12:13–14

The Woman Is Pursued

Thrown down to Earth, the dragon pursues the woman who gave birth to the male child.

But she is given the two wings of a great eagle, so she can fly into the wilderness to her place of care, away from the serpent.

John describes her care for “a time, and times, and half a time.” Christians interpret this period and the woman's identity differently.

The eagle's wings belong to the vision's imagery. This painting visualizes them; her clothing, the landscape, and the arrangement of the pursuit are artistic details.

We are following the order of John's vision, without assigning these scenes a modern date.
