THE CHRIST COMMANDED OATH

I am part of the fellowship of the unashamed.

I belong to Jesus Christ.

The decision has been made. I have stepped across the line. I am His disciple.

I will not look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still.

My past is redeemed. My present belongs to Christ. My future is secure in Him.

I am finished with low living, sight-walking, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, cheap living, and dwarfed goals.

I no longer seek preeminence, prosperity, position, promotion, praise, or popularity.

I do not have to be first, recognized, celebrated, regarded, rewarded, or proven right before men.

I will live by faith.
I will depend upon His presence.
I will walk in patience.
I will be lifted by prayer.
I will labor by the power of the Holy Spirit.

My face is set.
My goal is Christ.
My road is narrow.
My way may be difficult.
My companions may be few.
My Guide is faithful.
My mission is clear.

I cannot be bought.
I will not knowingly compromise the truth.
I will not be detoured from Christ's command.
I will not be lured away by possessions, power, fear, pride, comfort, or popularity.

I will not turn back.

I will not flinch when obedience requires sacrifice.
I will not surrender to evil.
I will not negotiate away the commands of Christ for convenience.
I will not wander through the maze of mediocrity when Christ has called me to serve.

Jesus commanded us to love one another as He loved us.

Therefore, what God has entrusted to me is not mine merely to keep.

Where there is hunger, I will share my food.
Where there is thirst, I will give drink.
Where there is need, I will give what I am able.
Where there is loneliness, I will be present.
Where there is suffering, I will not simply walk past.
Where there is injustice, I will seek what is right.
Where there is danger, I will not abandon another merely to preserve my own comfort.

I will give my time.
I will give my labor.
I will give my possessions.
I will give my strength.
I will give forgiveness.
I will give mercy.
I will give of myself.

And if faithfulness to Christ and love for another human being should ever truly require the ultimate sacrifice, I accept the teaching of my Lord:

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends.

I will not seek death, glorify death, or act recklessly with the life God has entrusted to me. But neither will fear for myself become an excuse for abandoning someone whom I have the power and duty to help.

Christ gave Himself for us.

Therefore, I will not build my life around the question, "What can I keep?"

I will ask instead:

"What can I give?"
"Whom can I serve?"
"Whom can I lift?"
"Whom can I protect?"
"What has Christ commanded me to do?"

I will stay prayed up, prepared, faithful, and ready for the cause of Christ.

I am a disciple of Jesus Christ.

I must go until He comes,
give while I have something to give,
serve while I have strength to serve,
teach while there are people willing to hear,
love while there are people needing love,
and work until my Lord tells me my work is finished.

I will love God with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength.

I will love my neighbor as myself.

I will remember the poor.
I will welcome the stranger.
I will care for the sick.
I will visit the forgotten.
I will defend the vulnerable.
I will forgive those who wrong me.
I will pray for those who oppose me.
I will serve without demanding recognition.
I will give without demanding repayment.

I will not confuse authority with greatness, because Jesus taught that whoever would be great must become a servant.

I will not confuse possessions with blessing, because what I possess has been entrusted to me for God's purposes.

I will not confuse comfort with faithfulness, because following Christ may cost me something.

I will not confuse words with obedience, because Jesus did not merely command us to hear Him. He commanded us to do what He said.

When I fail, I will repent.

When I fall, I will rise again.

When I am corrected by the Word of God, I will submit to it.

When another believer needs correction, I will speak truth in love.

When someone needs mercy, I will remember the mercy Christ has shown me.

I belong to Jesus Christ.

My hands are available for His work.
My feet are available for His mission.
My possessions are available for His purposes.
My voice is available for His truth.
My strength is available for His service.
My life is His.

I will not merely wear the name Christian.

By the grace of God, I will endeavor to live as one.

And when my earthly work is finished and Christ calls His own, may there be no difficulty recognizing whom I served.

May my banner be clear.

JESUS CHRIST IS LORD.

I have read this oath.

I understand what it asks of me.

I take it freely, before God and before my brothers and sisters in Christ.

I do not promise that I will never fail.

I promise that when I fail, I will return to Christ.

I do not place my confidence in my own strength.

My confidence is in Jesus Christ and in the power of the Holy Spirit to make me faithful to what Christ has commanded.

This is my confession.
This is my commitment.
This is my oath.

I am a disciple of Jesus Christ.

I am Christ Commanded.
